About Yashoda Singh

Note 8/2023: Yashoda Singh chose to study from Home and will not return to MH.

Yashoda comes from a small jungle village in Central India. Her parents work as agricultural laborers, helping to plant and harvest seasonal crops. Before coming to live at the Mercy Home, Yashoda helped her mother with household chores, including cooking, collecting wood, tending to the family's animals, and fetching water from the creek over 1 mile from their home. The family's home is a simple mud hut without electricity or running water. In addition, there is no reliable school in Yashoda's village. As new Christians, Yashoda's parents desire for their children to be educated in the Word of God, but there is a lack of Christian teaching in their Hindu village.

Their prayers for Christian education and greater academic opportunity were answered through the Mercy Home. Now living at the Mercy Home, Yashoda has the opportunity to attend church weekly and participate in daily Bible study. She attends a quality school where she can excel in her education. Inspired by her new situation, Yashoda aspires to attend nursing school in the future. In her spare time, she enjoys singing with her new friends and playing Kho-Kho (an Indian game) and badminton. Some of her favorite foods are rice and dal (lentil soup).

Thank you for providing Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Yashoda!
