About Yakub Bhil

Yakub (Jacob) comes from a dedicated Christian family who lives deep in the jungle. Their ancestors were evangelized by Indian missionaries, but there are no Christian teachers living in their village today. Despite their illiteracy, Yakub's parents follow an inspiring, child-like faith, relying on Bible stories they have committed to memory. Like sheep without a shepherd, they are unable to read the Bible for themselves and thus hindered in their maturity as Christ-followers. They long for Yakub and his five siblings to receive an education, but the area's only school is located several miles away and can only be reached by dangerous jungle trails.

Through the Mercy Home, Yakub and three of his siblings, Rekha, Nirmala, and Ashish have the opportunity to transform their lives. Now Yakub is able to attend school and is quickly learning to read and write. He dreams of becoming a teacher in order to help disadvantaged children like himself. Most importantly, Yakub is growing in his spiritual faith, attending Sunday school each week and participating in daily Bible study at the Mercy Home. In his spare time, Yakub enjoys learning new songs and dances. He also enjoys playing badminton and carom with his friends. His favorite foods are chicken, mutton, and rice.

Thank you for providing Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Yakub!
