About Vivek Dhobi
Vivek lives with his parents, grandparents, and brother in a small village in North India. His family lives in a small mud hut with no electricity and burn wood and cow pies over an open stove to cook their food. His father makes only a meager income working as a hospital janitor, while his mother is a homemaker. By scavenging for food and tending for the family's livestock, Vivek displays responsibility for his family's well-being. Due to the lack of calendar use in his village, Vivek does not know the exact date of his birth. His government ID has his birthday as January 1st.
Recognizing their situation of chronic poverty, Vivek longs to achieve an education so he can help provide for his family's needs. He loves to read and dreams of becoming a teacher one day. Although Vivek and his family still practice the Hindu religion, they are exploring Christianity and have begun to pray to God daily. Please pray that they will continue to draw closer to the true Lord. In his spare time, Vivek enjoys playing kho-kho, soccer, carom, and cricket, as well as learning new dances. His favorite foods are dal, chicken, and chapatti. Vivek needs your support to provide for his school fees, uniform, school bag, and other necessities.
