About Varsha Bhalvi

Varsha was raised in an extremely poor family in a large city in Central India. To provide for their family, Varsha's parents work as rag pickers. Each day, they gather rags and other materials like metal and plastic from garbage piles to sell. Unsurprisingly, this menial work provides a very meager income for Varsha's family. Many days they have nothing to eat. Varsha's parents are first-generation Christians, and they have prayed fervently to God that their kids will have a better future, full of hope and opportunity.
Through the Mercy Home, God has provided an answer to their prayers. Since Varsha has come to live at the Mercy Home, she receives three hearty meals a day and attends a quality school where she can excel in her education. Most importantly, Varsha attends church weekly and has the opportunity to be mentored by caring, mature Christians. Inspired by her new situation, Varsha aspires to become an officer in the government so she can help families in difficult situations, like her own. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing chess, and playing Teepu, an outdoor village game. Varsha's favorite flower is the rose and her favorite color is pink.
