About Sonali Bansal

Sonali comes from a first-generation Christian family. When she was young, her father died suddenly of a heart attack, leaving Sonali's mother alone to care for her four children. Illiterate and unskilled, her mother can find work only in service, cleaning homes, and doing dishes for wealthier families. However, this work provides only a meager income for the family, and they are barely able to afford food and shelter. In addition, Sonali and her siblings are at risk of abuse and kidnapping as they are left at home alone for long periods of time while their mother works.
Despite their grim situation, Sonali's mom dreamed of better opportunities for her daughter, and her prayers were answered through the Mercy Home. Now, Sonali receives a quality education at the ministry school and safety from the loving protection of her Christian caretakers. Most importantly, through weekly church attendance and participation in daily Bible Study, Sonali is growing in the knowledge and wisdom of Christ. Sonali loves her new school. In her spare time, Sonali likes to dance and sing with her new friends, as well as play soccer and volleyball.
