About Shushma Kol

Shushma comes from a very small village in Central India. Her father is a first-generation Christian and village preacher. He is not educated but is very dedicated to the service of the Lord, especially among the poor and sick in the remote areas of India. Shushma’s mother has to do daily labor work to add to the family’s modest income. They live in a small mud hut and cook their meals on firewood and cow dung patties. Shushma is their only child and they feared for her safety due to the rise of persecution against Christians. So, at age 15 her parents sent her to the safety of the Mercy Home, where she lived full time, studying diligently through high school. Although she was behind in her schooling, she worked extremely hard and was able to graduate from high school in June of 2020!

From her childhood, Shushma dreamed of going to college and becoming either a teacher or a nurse. Shushma has applied for both majors and is now waiting to see which one she will be accepted for. Your sponsorship of $200 a month will provide her with all tuition, room, board, uniforms, books, meals, and personal care items.

Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Shushma!
