About Shalini Tomar

Shalini comes from a very remote village in Central India. This tribal village is surrounded by jungle that make the roads to their village most difficult to navigate. Most of the people live in mud huts. They use firewood and cow dung as a fuel for cooking their meals. For centuries, they lived as slaves to the high caste people and landlords.

Shalini's parents are first generation Christians living in an area where persecution of Christians is on the rise. Shalini's father is a daily wage laborer who does not have work all year round, so the family lives in poverty and faces many difficulties.

When the family found out about Mercy Home, they came to visit and were humbled and blessed that their daughters would be able to live there. They cried and were in awe of God's plan for their lives! Now Shalini and her sister, Kanchan, will be able to continue their education in the safe and godly environment of the Mercy Home.

Shalini is a sweet girl. Most girls in her village get married at her age, or sometimes even as early as 12 years old. Shalini wants to study hard and become an engineer. She enjoys the daily devotions and worship time with her new Mercy Home family.

Thank you for helping to provide Hope, Dignity and a Future to Shalini!
