About Shalem Samuel

My name is Shalem Samuel, my friends call me “Sammy.” I am a Christian believer. I attend church regularly, read my Bible and pray every day, but my very favorite thing is to praise and worship God. I love playing worship songs on the Casio keyboard for my church. When I graduated from high school, I could never even think about going to college. You see my father is an abusive alcoholic and has created so many embarrassing problems for my family. He has gone in and out of police custody, in and out of rehab, and now has even lost his job. My mother is a very strong believer and a first-generation Christian. She comes from a high-caste brahmin family who has cut all ties with us due to our accepting Jesus. Now my mother is solely taking care of our family and paying for my father’s rehab for his additions. My father’s side of the family are very poor and not able to help us either.
My dream is to be a nurse and help others and be able to help my family. I worked very hard to get good grades and was able to pass the entrance exam for the nursing program. I am determined to work hard and make a difference for my family and my community. I cannot do this without your help. Would you kindly consider sponsoring me? I will not disappoint you!
