About Rahul Tandiya
Rahul comes from a poor Indian family. Though his parents work hard as laborers to support Rahul and his seven siblings, their work provides only a meager income. As members of the Indian lower caste, Rahul, and his family, are denied economic opportunities and are socially prevented from pursuing upward mobility. Despite these great disadvantages, Rahul's parents dreamed of a better future for their children.
Holding on to this hope, they reached out to the Mercy Home to help Rahul. Now, living at the Mercy Home, Rahul is able to attend a quality school and grow in knowledge and skills. Inspired by his new situation and his supportive teachers, he aspires to be a teacher himself when he is older. Rahul also attends church weekly and participates in daily Bible study with mature Christian mentors. Through the Mercy Home, he has heard the Good News of the Gospel and is continually growing in his understanding of God's love for him. In his spare time, Rahul enjoys reading, painting, and drawing, as well as playing soccer and cricket with his friends. Some of his favorite foods are rice, dal (lentils), chicken, and chapatti (Indian-style bread).
