About Poonam Singh

Poonam comes from a small town in Central India. She has one brother and two sisters. Her parents are farm laborers and are extremely poor. While her Hindu family hasn't yet accepted Christ, they attend Church and participate in prayer meetings and Bible study with the local pastor. Poonam’s parents are afraid that there would be retaliation against their daughter for their interest in Christianity (which often happens in India) and have asked to take her to the Mercy Home for her protection.
Poonam is very excited to be admitted to the Mercy Home! Here she can safely learn more about the Lord Jesus Christ and grow in Him. Poonam enjoys studying and wants to become a teacher one day. She likes to play badminton and kho-kho (an Indian game). Her favorite food is rice, dal, chapatti, chicken, and vegetables.
