About Kamla Katara
Kamla lives with her mother and three sisters in a mud house in a small village in North India. The climate in this village is hot, and dry and also experiences drought seasons. The village is located near a river and in a mountainous area. The family uses wood and dried cow pies as fuel to cook their meals. The water well the family uses is over 600 meters from their home. Their house has no running water.
Kamla helps with cooking meals, household chores, and babysitting her sisters. Her father is a laborer while her mother is a homemaker. Kamla wants to become a teacher one day. She enjoys singing and reading, along with playing kho-kho (an Indian game). Her favorite foods are dal (lentils), rice, veggies, and chapatti.
Kamla comes from a Christian family. They attend church each Sunday and a Bible study. Kamla needs your help to provide for her school fees, uniform, books, school bag, and other needs.
Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Kamla!
