About Jyoti Singh
Hi, my name is Jyoti. I come from a very small, poor village in the jungle of Central India. My parents are laborers and have to travel many miles to find work. My grandparents (father’s parents) live with my parents and they are old and sick, so my mom needs to stay home and take care of them sometimes instead of working. The nearest school is over 5 miles from my home so it became very difficult and unsafe to attend school. My sister and I had to go on foot from the Jungle area and were so scared of wild jungle animals, also some people would yell bad remarks at us as we are Christians, whereas most people are Hindu in my village. My grandparents are concerned about my safety and my future. Then a visiting pastor told us about The Mercy Home. We are beyond blessed that both me and my sister, Pratibha, have been accepted to The Mercy Home.
Someday I want to become a nurse and I know I need to work very hard to achieve this goal. I love to sing. I enjoy a simple Indian meal of rice, dal (lentil soup), and vegetables. Thank you for providing me with your love, prayers, and generosity so that I can have this opportunity! May God bless you richly!!
