About Jeeja Kumari Ahari

Jeeja is from a small, remote village in Western India. This area is in a jungle in the mountains that experiences intense heat and drought seasons. She lives with her parents and two brothers, Deepak and Tara, in a small mud hut. The family uses wood as fuel to cook their meals, they don’t have access to electricity. The water well the family uses is about two kilometers from their home which means gathering water each day is very laborious and time-consuming.

Her parents have a little farm on a small field by their hut. Jeeja helps with gardening, fetching water, cooking meals, household chores, and tending livestock. Jeeja wants to become a teacher one day. She enjoys reading and singing along with playing badminton, volleyball, and kho-kho. Her favorite foods are dal (lentils) and rice. Jeeja comes from a devoted Christian family; they attend church each Sunday, attend a Bible study, read the Bible and pray together daily. Jeeja needs your help and support to provide for her school fees, uniform, books, school bag, and other needs.

Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Jeeja!
