About Harshita Khokhariya
Harshita lives with her parents and her younger brother Prince in a small mud hut in a remote village in West India. This village is located in a valley where the climate is hot and humid with occasional drought seasons. The family uses wood as fuel to cook their meals. They do not have electricity. While the water well is not too far from their house, gathering water for all their daily needs is tedious and laborious.
Her father is an unskilled low-wage laborer, which means he gets arduous jobs at construction sites or in agricultural fields. Her mother is a homemaker and even though she is very young, Harshita helps her momma with household chores and fetching water from the well. Harshita wants to become a nurse one day. She enjoys playing carom (an Indian boardgame). Her favorite foods are dal (lentils) and rice.
Harshita comes from a Christian family; they enjoy going to church each Sunday. Harshita needs your help and support to provide for school fees, uniform, books, school bag, and other needs.
