About Deepa Singh
Deepa comes from a village in Central India where she lived with her mother, one brother, and maternal grandparents. Sadly, her father recently died. To provide for the family, her mother works as a field laborer. She also takes odd jobs around the village to earn more money. Yet they are very poor and are unable to afford an education for Deepa. They are good simple Christian people and are members of their village congregation. Being Christian, poor, and without a father puts Deepa in a very vulnerable position. With all the adults out of the home and working to support the family, Deepa is vulnerable to abuse, persecution, and even kidnapping.
Deepa feels so blessed to be a part of the Mercy Home family. The Mercy Home provides her with a safe place to grow spiritually and educationally in a loving Christian atmosphere. Deepa aspires to become a nurse one day. She is creative and loves doing crafts. In her free time, Deepa enjoys playing an Indian game called kho-kho with her new Mercy Home friends. She enjoys simple food like rice, dal, or chicken and is grateful when she has a full stomach, she is happy that now she will never go hungry again!
Thank you for providing Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Deepa!
