About Dashrath Baiga
Dashrath lives with his other and father and two sisters, Kanchan and Priyanka. They live in a small, poor village in Central India. Their one-room hut is made of mud and bricks. The closest water well is over 1,000 meters away. Dashrath helps his mom carry jugs to the well to get water for their daily cooking and cleaning. He also helps collect firewood and cow pies that the family uses as fuel to cook on.
Dashrath dreams of being an engineer one day. He enjoys reading and playing cricket with his friends. The family's diet is very modest, consisting of dal (lentils), white rice, and chapati (an Indian flatbread). On special occasions, they will kill a chicken and enjoy chicken curry.
