About Ankita Mongre

Ankita came to us from a very remote village located in Central India where she lived with her mother. Her father has died last year. Ankita and her mother are new believers and often face persecution for their faith in Jesus. The closest school is about five and a half miles from her home walking distance. After the death of her father, Ankita's mother has to support the family by herself. She works as a laborer, which often means long and difficult work in the fields for very minimal pay. When her mother is at work, Ankita is left unprotected and vulnerable to kidnapping or abuse which unfortunately happens often in India. Her relatives want Ankita to get married, but she wants to study further and be able to earn a decent living. In fact, she aspires to become a nurse.
Ankita was so excited to be accepted to Mercy Home where she can live in safety and receive a great education! She is in 11th grade now. Ankita also loves the daily devotionals and worship time with her new Mercy Home family. In her spare time, Ankita enjoys reading or playing soccer with her new friends. She enjoys eating all kinds of food from rice and dal to chapatti and chicken.
