About Aastha Gawande
Aastha lives with her parents, grandparents, one brother and one sister in a small brick and mud house in a village located in the jungles of Central India. The climate in this village is hot and humid. This area can also experience heavy monsoon storms. The family uses wood gathered from the nearby jungle as a fuel for cooking their meals. They are blessed to have a water well close to their home.
Aastha helps her parents with fetching water from the well. Each day she carries jugs of water, usually on her head, for all family needs such as cleaning, cooking, and bathing. She also helps her mom with cooking meals and doing other household chores. Aastha parents work as low wage unskilled laborers. Aastha wants to break this cycle of poverty and dreams of becoming a teacher one day. She loves to read. In her spare time, she enjoys playing kho-kho with her friends. Her favorite foods are dal and rice. Please pray for Aastha as she comes from a Hindu family. Aastha needs your help and support to provide for her school fees, school uniform, books, school bag, and other needs such as shoes and school lunches.
