Vikas comes from a very poor family that lives deep in the jungle separated from the rest of the world. Brought to Christ by Indian evangelists, Vikas' father now serves as the pastor of their tribal congregation. This makes the family face persecution from radical Hindu groups. This danger, along with the lack of economic and educational opportunities in their village, led Vikas' parents to seek a better future for their children.

Praise God, their prayers were answered through the Mercy Home that will provide Vikas and his younger brother Yakub with quality academic education and Christian mentorship. To his parents' delight, through weekly church and daily Bible devotionals, Vikas is growing in the knowledge and wisdom of Christ. Inspired by his own teachers, he would like to become a teacher himself in the future so he can help educate kids who come from villages like his own. In his spare time, Vikas enjoys playing cricket with his new friends and singing in the Mercy Home choir.
