About Vivek Ahirwal
Vivek lives with his parents and his two brothers and one sister in a small house made of brick and mud in a remote village in Central India. The climate in this village is mostly hot and humid, with periods of heavy monsoons. The village is located near a river where Vivek and his father enjoy fishing. The family uses wood and cow-pies as fuel to cook their meals. The only source of water is about 50 meters from their home. Vivek helps carry the water in buckets, morning and night, for his mom to use for cleaning and cooking.
He also helps with household chores, hand washing clothes, starting the fire for his mom to cook on, and peeling vegetables to name a few. His dad and mom are laborers, which means they look for odd jobs and help with manual labor whenever they can. Vivek dreams of becoming a teacher one day. He enjoys reading along with playing carom and cricket. His favorite foods are dal, rice, vegetarian, and chicken. Sometimes he and his father will catch fish, which is his favorite food to eat.
Vivek comes from a Christian family. They pray together daily. Vivek needs your help and support to provide for his school fees, uniform, books, school bag, and other needs.
