About Vandana Kumari Sagiya

Vandana is from a small, remote village in Western India. This area is in a jungle in the mountains that experiences intense heat and drought seasons. She lives with her parents, two brothers, and sister in a mud hut. The family doesn't have access to electricity and they use wood as fuel to cook their meals, they cannot afford propane. The water well the family uses is over half a mile from their home which means gathering water each day is laborious and time-consuming.

Her father is an unskilled laborer, which means he gets arduous jobs at construction sites or in agricultural fields. Her mother is a homemaker and Vandana helps with gardening, cooking meals, tending livestock, and household chores. Vandana wants to become a teacher one day. She enjoys dancing, singing, and reading along with playing kho-kho. Her favorite foods are rice, vegetables, chicken, and chapatti. Vandana comes from a Christian family. They attend church each Sunday, read the Bible daily, attend a Bible study, and pray together daily. Vandana needs your help and support to provide for school fees, uniform, books, school bag, and other needs.

Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Vandana!
