About Sonabai Prakash

Sonabai grew up in an extremely remote tribal community where she lived in a jungle with her parents and one brother. The tribe owns small parcels of land where they live and grow crops. These people are very strong Christians and they focus on righteous living. When they became believers, they were forced out from their region, so they moved together out in a jungle. They live in extreme poverty and simplicity but have a strong faith in Jesus Christ. The tribe members never went to school. However, now they realize that having an education would greatly improve their children’s future. Sonabai’s parents approached the Mercy Home requesting help for their daughter.

Sonabai is the most literate girl of her tribe and she will be studying in the 6th grade. She was fortunate to have been picked by the state government to live in a tribal school hostel. However, she didn’t like it there because they force children there to follow all Hindu rituals. Sonabai was excited to be admitted to the Mercy Home where she can continue her studies and worship the Lord Jesus Christ and grow in Him! Sonabai enjoys dancing, singing, and playing Kho-Kho. Her favorite foods are dhal (lentils) and rice. She is happy and grateful to be a part of the Mercy Home family.

Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Sonabai!
