About Shailesh Bariya
Shailesh came to Mercy Home from a remote village near a forest, where he lived with his parents and three brothers. This is a very poor family. His father is an unskilled low-wage laborer, and his mother is a homemaker. The closest school is about five miles away, so it was difficult and not safe for Shailesh to walk to school regularly, especially during monsoon seasons or on very hot days. In addition to that, they are Christians, which makes them targets for persecution, making the children particularly vulnerable on the long walks to school. The parents want a place where Shailesh can be safe, get a good education, and grow spiritually.
Shailesh was so happy to join the Mercy Home family! He loves to study and wants to become a teacher when he grows up. Being at the Mercy Home will give him the opportunity to get the primary education he will need to achieve that goal! He loves to read, paint and draw. He enjoys playing soccer with his new friends. He likes all kinds of food, but especially rice, lentils, chicken, vegetables, and chapatti.
