Rakhi belongs to a first-generation Christian family; they are faithful members of their small village church. They live in a village near the coal mines in Central India. They are very poor. Her father passed away in 2018. Rakhi has two brothers. It is very difficult for her mother to survive with three children. She is unskilled and uneducated. She has no support from either her maternal family or her in-laws because they rejected them for converting to Christianity. Rakhi’s mother is desperate for her daughter to have a safe place to live, get an education, and grow in Christ. And the Mercy Home became an answer to her prayers.
Rakhi is happy to be a part of the Mercy Home family and she loves her new school! She takes life seriously. Rakhi wants to become a nurse one day. She enjoys reading and listening to music. In her spare time, Rakhi enjoys playing Kho-kho with her new friends. Her favorite foods are dal, rice, chapatti, and other vegetarian dishes. Her favorite color is purple.
