About Nisha Bhil
Nisha grew up in a poor tribal family. Located deep in the jungle, their village is cut off from the economic and educational opportunity. Nisha's parents are totally illiterate; they used to live off the jungle produce and hunting, but recent government regulations prohibit that, forcing them to make their living as unskilled laborers. This provides only a meager income for their family of six. Despite their difficulties, Nisha's family have remained dedicated Christians. Their ancestors were evangelized by Indian missionaries, and their tribe is known for its devotion to God. Because of this distinction, Nisha's family is at risk of persecution from Hindu extremists.
The Mercy Home provides Nisha with a safe haven and a quality education. Guided by Christian teachers, Nisha is quickly advancing in her studies. Inspired by new opportunities, Nisha dreams of becoming a doctor in the future. Most importantly, Nisha is growing in knowledge and relationship with Jesus Christ. She attends weekly Sunday school classes and participates in daily Bible study at the Mercy Home. Kind and gentle, Nisha is eager to do well and to please her new friends and teachers. In her spare time, she enjoys learning new dances and songs. Her favorite meal is chicken curry and fried rice.
