About Naresh Barela

Raised in a poor tribal village located deep in a jungle, Naresh has experienced a life of poverty. Illiterate and unskilled, his parents attempt to support their family of five through agricultural labor. However, often droughts and the lack of fertile soil make farming very difficult.

Understanding the importance of a good education that can break the cycle of poverty for their children, the parents long for Naresh and his brother and sister to go to school. However, the area's only school is located over 7 kilometers away and can be reached only by dangerous jungle trails which become even more difficult during monsoon seasons or times of extreme heat.

The Mercy Home became a solution to this problem. Here Naresh has access to quality academic and spiritual education. Naresh enjoys school and wants to become a teacher when he grows up. He is excited to learn to read and write. Naresh attends church weekly and participates in daily Bible devotionals led by caring Christian leaders at the Mercy Home. Naresh is happy to receive nutritional meals and snacks every day, so he doesn't have to go hungry again. In his spare time, he enjoys playing cricket with his new friends.

Thank you for providing Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Naresh!
