About Mohini Shivani Kumar
Mohini lives with her parents, grandparents, and two brothers in a mud hut in a small village. Their village is located on an open plain in Northern India. Hot during the summer and wet during the monsoon season, the area experiences a diverse climate. The family's hut contains no electricity or running water. The water well family collects water from is about 300 meters from their home. The family uses wood and cow pies as fuel to cook their meals. To help her mother, Mohini takes care of her siblings and does other household chores.
While they still practice their traditional Hindu religion, Mohini's parents are exploring Christianity and have even begun to engage in daily prayer. Her father's work as a laborer makes it challenging to provide for the family of six. To provide for school fees, uniform, books, school bag, and other essentials, Mohini needs help. She aspires to become a teacher. In her spare time, Mohini enjoys dancing, singing, playing board games, and participating in track sports. Her favorite foods are dal (lentils), rice, vegetarian dishes, and chapatti. Due to a lack of calendar use in her village, Mohini does not know the exact date of her birth. Her government ID has her birthday recorded as January 1st.
Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Mohini!
