About Mariyam Kharadi
Mariyam is from a small village in Western India. This area is in a valley that experiences intense heat and droughts. She lives in a small mud hut together with her parents and two brothers Arpit and Naresh. The family uses wood as fuel to cook their meals as they cannot afford propane. The water well the family uses is over half a mile from their home which makes getting water every day laborious and tedious.
Mariyam comes from a Christian family; they attend church each Sunday and pray together daily. Her father is an unskilled laborer; he works at construction sites and in agricultural fields. Her mother is a homemaker. Mariyam helps her mother with household chores. Mariyam aspires to become a nurse one day. She enjoys dancing and singing along with playing Sitolia (traditional Indian game) with her siblings. Her favorite foods are dal (lentils), rice, chicken, and chapatti.
Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Naresh!
