About Durga Shankar Ahari

Durga Shankar Ahari is from a small, remote village in Western India. This area is in a jungle in the mountains that experiences intense heat and drought seasons. He lives with his parents and two sisters in a small mud hut. The family uses wood as fuel to cook their meals; they don’t have access to electricity. The water well the family uses is over half a mile from their home which means gathering water each day is laborious and time-consuming.

His parents have a little farm on the small field by their hut. Durga helps with gardening, fetching water, household chores, tending livestock, and babysitting siblings. Durga wants to become a doctor one day. He enjoys reading and singing along with playing cricket and volleyball. His favorite foods are chicken, chapatti, and mutton. Durga comes from a Christian family. They attend church each Sunday, read the Bible daily, attend a Bible study, and pray together daily. Durga needs your help and support to provide for school fees, uniform, books, school bag, and other needs.

Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Durga!
