About Deepak Nandram
Deepak lives with his parents, one brother, and one sister in a mud hut in a small village in Central India. The village sits atop bluffs overlooking a river where the climate is hot and humid. This area also experiences drought seasons. Because of the lack of work in the village, his parents often go from town to town looking for some daily labor work to provide for the family. They are very poor.
Deepak helps a lot around the house; besides the regular household chores, he helps fetching water from the village hand pump and bring firewood from the nearby jungle to cook food. Deepak enjoys studying. He has to walk over three miles every day in order to attend school. Deepak wants to become a doctor one day. He likes to play cricket. His favorite food is fish curry, rice, and roti (Indian bread). His favorite color is green. Deepak needs your help and support to provide for school fees, a uniform, books, a school bag, and other needs.
