About Ashish Pateliya
Ashish means "blessing" in the Hindi language. He belongs to a dedicated Christian family who lives in the jungle. They have a barren piece of land around their small house that his parents work hard to grow some crops depending only on the rainwater. There is no electricity, running water, or paved roads in the village. Ashish has never seen a bathroom, a bed, or even a table or chairs before he came to Mercy Home. The family has two goats and two oxen for plowing their land.
The closest school to his village is over 7 kilometers away which makes very difficult for him to walk to school during the monsoon seasons or during the extremely hot weather. Ashish's parents prayed that God would provide a way for him to receive an education. The answer to their prayer came through the Mercy Home. At the Mercy Home, Ashish has the opportunity to attend a quality school. He enjoys learning to read and write. Ashish wants to become a teacher when he grows up. Most importantly, Ashish now attends church weekly and loves the Sunday School program. His favorite food is chicken curry, he is happy that at the Mercy Home he will never go hungry again. Ashish enjoys playing soccer with new friends.
