About Aasheesh Prakesh
Aasheesh lives with his parents and one brother in a small village in Central India. They cook their meals over an open wood fire in their mud-and-brick home. Both monsoon and drought seasons affect Aasheesh's village, creating an unpredictable climate. The village is located in a valley near to a river. Aasheesh's father works as an unskilled laborer and his mother as a homemaker. Aasheesh helps his parents by collecting water from the well near their home.
Despite the chronic poverty that plagues Aasheesh's village, he has been given the opportunity to achieve an education. His parents are dedicated Christians who lead their family in daily Bible reading and prayer. Inspired by their example, Aasheesh dreams of becoming a preacher to spread the Word of God to his countrymen. In his spare time, he enjoys dancing, singing, and playing cricket with his friends. Aasheesh's favorite foods are dal (lentils), rice, and chapatti. To provide for his school fees, uniform, books, and other educational tools, Aasheesh needs your help!
