Vinod lives with his parents, one brother, and three sisters in a small mud hut in a remote village in Western India. This area is in a valley that experiences intense heat and drought seasons. The family uses wood as fuel to cook their meals. The water well the family uses is over half a mile from their home which means gathering water each day is laborious and time-consuming.
Mariyam comes from a Christian family; they faithfully attend church each Sunday. His father is an unskilled laborer, which means he gets arduous jobs at construction sites or in agricultural fields. His mother is a homemaker and Vinod helps with household chores. Vinod wants to become an engineer one day. He enjoys reading and playing cricket. His favorite foods are chicken, chapatti, and mutton. Vinod needs your help and support to provide for his school fees, uniform, books, school bag, and other needs.
