About Sushmita Singh

NOTE: Sushmita Singh graduated from High School & the Mercy Home in 2023!
Thank You, Sponsors!!!

Before coming to live at the Mercy Home, Sushmita grew up in a small jungle village. Both of her parents are illiterate; to provide for their family they raise goats and chickens and sell them for their milk and eggs, respectively. At times, to supplement their income, Sushmita's parents find work as unskilled laborers. For a while, Sushmita was forced by a government mandate to live in a boarding school, but the broken educational system and the risk of exploitation led her parents to search for better options. As a low-caste, village girl, Sushmita would likely be forced into marriage as a child bride and spend the rest of her life caring for chickens and goats.

However, Mercy Home offers more choices and opportunities for Sushmita. Now living at the Mercy Home, she attends school daily and is learning to read and write as well as developing other life skills. Sushmita attends church weekly and is growing in the knowledge and wisdom of Christ. Already thinking of her future, Sushmita believes that she could study to be a doctor. In her spare time, she enjoys playing Kho-Kho and eating traditional Indian food. Sushmita's parents are thrilled with the progress their daughter is making and are incredibly grateful to whoever her sponsor will be.

Thank you for providing Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Sushmita!
