About Soniya Pune Ahari
Soniya is from a small, remote village in Western India. This area is in a jungle in the mountains that experiences intense heat and drought seasons. She lives with her parents, two brothers, and one sister in a small mud hut. The family uses wood as fuel to cook their meals, and they don’t have access to electricity. The water well the family uses is about two kilometers from their home which means gathering water each day is very laborious and time-consuming.
Her parents have a little farm on the small field by their hut. Soniya helps with gardening, fetching water, cooking meals, household chores, tending livestock, and babysitting siblings. Soniya wants to become a teacher one day. She loves to read and sing. She also enjoys playing volleyball and kho-kho. Her favorite foods are dal (lentils), rice, chicken, and fish. Soniya comes from a Christian family; they attend church each Sunday, attend a Bible study, read the Bible and pray together daily. Soniya needs your help and support to provide for school fees, uniform, books, school bag, and other needs.
Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Soniya!
