About Ranu Dama
Ranu Dama lives with her parents, two brothers and three sisters in a small brick and concrete house in a remote village in Western India. This area is in a valley that experiences intense heat and drought seasons. The family uses wood as fuel to cook their meals as they cannot afford propane. The water well the family uses is over 650 feet from their home, which makes gathering water each day laborious and time-consuming.
Ranu's father is a farmer and her mother is a homemaker. Even though she is paralyzed in her lower legs, she helps her mother with cooking meals and some household chores. Ranu wants to become a teacher one day, and we want to help provide her with the education she will need to achieve this goal! She enjoys reading, drawing, painting, and making crafts. She also loves playing carom, an Indian board game. Her favorite foods are dal (lentils), rice, chicken, and chapatti. Ranu comes from a Christian family. They attend church each Sunday and pray together daily. Ranu needs your help and support to provide for school fees, uniform, books, school bag, and other needs.
Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Ranu!
