About Rakesh Dama
Rakesh Dama lives with his parents, two brothers and four sisters in a small brick and concrete house in a remote village in Western India. This area is in a valley that experiences intense heat and drought seasons. The family uses wood as fuel to cook their meals as they cannot afford propane. The water well the family uses is over 650 feet from their home, which makes gathering water each day laborious and time-consuming.
His father is a farmer and his mother is a homemaker. Rakesh helps a lot around their home by gardening, cooking meals, tending livestock, and doing other household chores. Rakesh wants to become a teacher one day. He loves to read. In his spare time, Rakesh enjoys playing soccer and cricket. His favorite foods are dal (lentils), rice, vegetables, chicken, and chapatti. Rakesh comes from a Christian family. They attend church each Sunday and pray together daily. Rakesh needs your help and support to provide for school fees, uniform, books, school bag, and other needs.
