About Premsha Bhil

Growing up, Premsha had little opportunity to receive an education. Her family lives in an isolated village deep in the jungle. The only nearby school, a government institution, is poorly ran and staffed by non-committed, corrupt teachers. At the age of ten, Premsha is still unable to read or write and doesn't know simple math. Lack of economic opportunity and education has kept Premsha's family trapped in poverty. They live in self-made mud hut covered with tree branches, without electricity or running water. Despite their humble circumstances, Premsha's parents dreamed of better opportunities for their daughter.

Through the help of the Mercy Home, Premsha has been given the hope of transforming her life. She is growing in academic and spiritual maturity, mentored by loving teachers and caretakers. Premsha has a quiet and shy personality, and coming to live at the Mercy Home was a difficult transition for her.  Over time, she grew in confidence and began to embrace her new friends and surroundings. Premsha dreams of becoming a teacher in the future, so she can help girls like herself learn to read and write. In her spare time, Premsha enjoys playing badminton and Tipu with her friends. Her favorite meal is Mutton Curry and Dhal (lentils).

Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity and a Future to Premsha!
