About Pratiksha Meena
Pratiksha lives with her parents and her younger sister Mahima in a small brick and mud house in a remote village in the mountains of Western India. This area experiences intense heat and drought seasons. The family uses wood as fuel to cook their meals. The closest water well the family uses is over 1,000 meters from their home which makes gathering water each day laborious and time-consuming.
Her father is an unskilled low-wage laborer, which means he gets arduous jobs at construction sites or in agricultural fields. Her mother is a homemaker and even though she is very young, Pratiksha helps with household chores. Pratiksha wants to become a teacher one day. She loves to read and sing and enjoys playing kho-kho. Pratiksha and her family live on a simple diet of dal, white rice, some vegetables, and chapati. On special occasions, they will kill a chicken and enjoy chicken curry.
Pratiksha comes from a Christian family; they enjoy coming to church each Sunday. Pratiksha needs your help and support to provide for her school fees, uniform, books, school supplies, and other needs.
Thank you for providing Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Pratiksha!
