About Muskan Ahirwar
Muskan’s name means “smile.” She comes from a very poor, first-generation Christian family. Muskan lived in a small village in Central India with her widowed mother and only brother. Her mother is illiterate and unskilled; she works hard as a laborer to provide for her children. In her spare time, Muskan’s mother is also learning to sew to earn more money, yet she still struggles to feed her small family. The family’s poverty puts Muskan at risk of abuse and exploitation. Her mother cannot provide safety and a good education for Muskan without the assistance of the Mercy Home.
Muskan is happy to be part of the Mercy Home family. She can live in a safe Christian environment, and receive a great education. Muskan wants to become a teacher. She loves to study. She also enjoys dancing and playing Kho-Kho and badminton with her new friends. Muskan is grateful to finally have enough to eat and enjoys eating her fill of her favorite meal, chicken, rice, dhal (lentils), and roti.
Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Muskan!
