About Mahima Upadhayay

Mahima Upadhayay came to Mercy Home from the slums in the city in Central India where she lived with her parents, brother, sister, and a widowed grandmother. Her mother is taking care of the family at home while her father works as a laborer. Mahima's parents are first generation Christians. Before they became Christians, her parents were not too concerned about their children's future. They thought their children would live in the slums and work as laborers like them and their forefathers and die. After becoming Christians Mahima's parents realized their worth as human beings and the children of God, and they wanted to secure a better future for their children, they want their children to grow spiritually and academically. However, they cannot give that future in the environment they live. It is only through Mercy Home that Mahima can have the better future her parents seek.

Mahima and her sister Kajal are happy to be a part of the Mercy Home family where they can grow in Christ and receive a great education! Mahima wants to become a police officer. She loves to read. She also enjoys dancing, singing, and playing with toys. She is good at sports and likes to play Kho-Kho, soccer, badminton, and carom. Her favorite foods are vegetables, chicken, and mutton. She enjoys winter and her favorite colors are pink and purple.

Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity and a Future to Mahima!
