About Krapa Shankar

Krapa Shankar comes from a small village on the plains of North India. He lives with his parents and sister in a mud and brick hut without running water and electricity. Located in a warm climate, Krapa's village experiences intense heat during the summer and heavy rainfall in the monsoon season. To cook their food, the family burns wood and cow pies in an open fire. Krapa helps with the cooking process by fetching water from the well 50 meters from his home. He enjoys eating dal (lentils), vegetarian dishes, eggs, rice, and chapatti (Indian-style bread) that his mom prepares.

Though Krapa's father works hard as a laborer to support his family, he is able to earn only a meager income through this unskilled work. Despite their humble situation, Krapa's parents long to see their son rise above his disadvantages. And, earning an education is key to this progress. In the future, Krapa dreams of becoming a teacher. However, in order to make this dream come true, Krapa needs your help to provide for his school fees, books, school bag, uniform, and other needs. In his spare time, he enjoys dancing and playing cricket with friends. Due to the lack of calendar use in Krapa's home village, he does not know the exact date of his birth. His government ID has set his birthday as January 1st.

Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity and a Future to Krapa!
