About Kalpana Bhudara
Kalpana lives with her parents and her younger brother Mahesh in a small mud hut in a remote village in Western India. This area is in a valley that experiences intense heat and drought seasons. The family uses wood as fuel to cook their meals as they cannot afford propane. The water well the family uses is about a third of a mile from their home which means gathering water each day is laborious and time-consuming.
Kalpana comes from a Christian family, they attend church each Sunday and pray together daily. Her father is an unskilled laborer, which means he gets arduous jobs at construction sites or in agricultural fields for a little pay. Her mother is a homemaker, and even though Kalpana is very young, she helps her mother with some chores, fetching water, and taking care of her little brother. Kalpana wants to become a nurse one day. She enjoys dancing and reading along with playing board games. Her favorite foods are rice, chicken, chapatti, and mutton. Kalpana needs your help and support to provide for school fees, uniform, books, school bag, and other needs.
Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Kalpana!
