About Jyoti Khokhariya

Jyoti lives with her parents, brother, and sister in a small brick and mud hut in a village in the mountains of Western India. This area is experiences intense heat and drought seasons. The family uses cow pies and wood as fuel to cook their meals as they cannot afford propane and they do not have access to electricity. The closest water well the family uses is over 500 meters from their home which makes gathering water each day laborious and time-consuming.

Jyoti's father is a teacher and her mother is a homemaker. Jyoti helps her parents with household chores and fetching water from the well. Jyoti's goal is to become a doctor one day. She loves to read and dance and enjoys playing kho-kho. Jyoti and her family live on a simple diet of rice, dal, and vegetables. On special occasions, they will kill a chicken and enjoy chicken curry.

Jyoti comes from a Christian family; they enjoy coming to church each Sunday and have a daily family time of Bible reading and prayer. Jyoti needs your help and support to provide for school fees, uniform, books, school bag, and other needs.

Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity and a Future to Jyoti!
