About Ishaq Gundiya
Ishaq comes from a dedicated Christian family. His father is the pastor of the small congregation in their rural village. Because of his parent's faith, Ishaq and his five siblings have been blessed to grow up with an understanding of the Gospel. However, daring to proclaim the truth of Christ in a Hindu culture hostile to the Gospel has brought persecution and difficulties for Ishaq and his parents and siblings. In addition to these troubles, there are no reliable schools in Ishaq's area, so he was unable to get an education.
Seeking a safe, Christ-centered environment for their son, Ishaq's parents asked for the help of Mercy Home. At Mercy Home, Ishaq has the opportunity to live with other young boys and attend a quality school. Inspired by his new situation, he plans to become a teacher when he is older. Most importantly, Ishaq attends church weekly and is being attentively discipled by mature Christians. In his spare time, he enjoys playing soccer and carom with his friends, as well as reading, dancing, and drawing. Ishaq likes to eat many traditional Indian foods, including dal (lentils), rice, vegetarian dishes, chapatti (Indian-style bread), mutton, and chicken.
