About Himmat Katara
Himmat is from a small, remote village in Western India. This area is in a jungle in the mountains that experiences intense heat and drought seasons. He lives with his parents, one brother, and two sisters in a small mud hut. The family uses wood as fuel to cook their meals; they don’t have access to electricity. The water well the family uses is over half a mile from their home which means gathering water each day is laborious and time-consuming.
His parents have a little farm on the small field by their hut. Himmat helps with gardening, fetching water, cooking meals, household chores, and tending livestock. Himmat wants to become a teacher one day. He enjoys reading along with playing kho-kho and cricket. He enjoys vegetarian dishes with chapatti (an Indian flat-bread). Himmat comes from a Christian family. They attend church each Sunday, read the Bible daily, attend a Bible study, and pray together daily. Himmat needs your help and support to provide for school fees, uniform, books, school bag, and other needs.
Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Himmat!
