Durgesh Chakravarty

Durgesh lives together with his parents, four sisters, and one brother in a small town in Central India. The town is located in the plains where the climate is hot and humid. This area also experiences heavy monsoon and drought seasons.

Durgesh is a mentally and physically challenged boy. His eyesight is weak, and he is partially paralyzed. Durgesh joined the Oasis of Love School in 2015. He loves to come to Oasis of Love by our school bus and is very happy here. He participates in all school activities and also enjoys school picnics, outings, and holiday celebrations. His favorite game is to play with the ball and his favorite animal is a dog.

To provide for his family Durgesh's father makes clay sculptures and statues. His mother is a stay at home mom. The family of eight faces financial strains, so Durgesh was very happy to receive a set of new clothes and shoes for Christmas. Durgesh comes from the Hindu family, yet their family deeply appreciates that their son is able to attend school, even though it is not a Hindu organization.
