About Bharti Raj
NOTE: Bharti Raj has graduated from High School and the Mercy Home program in 2021! She is now in Nursing College!
THANK YOU, SPONSORS!!!
Bharti came to Mercy Home from a village in Central India where she lived with her parents and brother. Her father is a laborer and her mother is a housewife who also works during harvest times in the village if she is able to find work. Bharti's family lives a very poor and hard life since her parents’ work is only seasonal. The school Bharti was attending before is three kilometers away from her house which made it difficult to reach during monsoon season and in hot weather. Due to their financial situation, Bharti's parents cannot afford to further her education. Bharti's parents are first-generation Christians who pray and read the Bible regularly at home.
Her parents are very grateful that Bharti was given an opportunity to live in the Mercy Home where she is safe and can receive a proper spiritual and academic education. Inspired by her dedicated teachers and caretakers, Bharti dreams of becoming a teacher. She has a fun and flamboyant personality, keeping her Mercy Home sisters entertained by acting out skits and telling jokes. In her spare time, Bharti enjoys singing, studying, and drawing. Her favorite games are Ludo, carom, and badminton. Her favorite foods are chicken and mutton curry.
Thank you for helping provide Hope, Dignity, and a Future to Bharti!
