About Ashok Gundiya
Ashok belongs to a tribal family who lives in a Jungle. His parents built their home with mud and nearby wood. They do not have electricity or running water. Ashok has three sisters. The children must go to fetch water from nearby water holes, praying there will still be water in them. Ashok loves going to school but unfortunately, it is over 7 miles away and the family does not have any transportation. His parents work in farming and also odd labor jobs they can find, sometimes many towns away.
His parents are very loving but because they work so far away from home, they are not able to walk him to and from school. The long walk through the jungle can be very dangerous for a little boy. They heard about the Mercy Home for boys and prayed their son would be accepted, as it is the only chance for him to get a good education and be in a safe place. God is good! Ashok was accepted and now lives full-time at The Mercy Home.
Thank you for your prayers, your love, and your generosity to make this family's dream of giving their son this wonderful chance. Through your sponsorship, you are giving Ashok hope, dignity, and a future! Thank you!!
Update from his Dorm Mother at The Mercy Home: Ashok loves his new big school. His favorite subjects are Hindi and English, so would like to become a linguist or teacher. He enjoys singing and dancing. In his spare time, he plays cricket and volleyball with his new friends. Chicken and Chapatti are his favorite foods.
