About Asha Makhodiya

Asha belongs to a tribal family. Her parents are strong believers. They live in interior Jungles in a small mud house which is built by her parents. Their animals and chickens also live in the mud hut with them. They are very precious to them so they don’t want the wild animals to eat them at night when they are not watching them. Her parents own a small piece of land around their house but it’s not very fertile, they grow some corn and wheat but it is not enough to sustain them. So her parents also work as daily wage laborers to earn a little more to survive. Asha's parents are totally illiterate so outside their Jungle sanctuary, they are exploited. They have experienced this vicious cycle for generations. They know that a good education can make a difference for their children, but there are no schools where they live. They heard of The Mercy Home from a visiting pastor and believe this is the answer to their prayers for sweet Asha and her sister Rena. God is good! Asha and Rena are now living full-time at The Mercy Home and attend one of the best schools!

Thank you for your faithful prayers, love, and generosity for Asha. You have given her the greatest gifts, hope, dignity, and a future!

Update from the Dorm Mother: Asha in Hindi means "Hope," and Asha now has hope! She wants to become a Nurse one day and help other people. She loves Jesus and likes to sing and dance for the Lord. She likes to play on the swings with her sister and other girls. She likes all kinds of food and is grateful that the Lord provides them. She likes the rainy season.
